Breathe In ... What is Old is New Again
By Rachel Chavez
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” 1 Corinthians 6:19.
God created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27) and while no human is perfect, it is honoring to God when we take care of our body, mind and soul. In the old testament the Jewish people had clear dietary laws and Priests were responsible for the overall health of their people. They also lived in a simpler time void of highly processed foods, stressful jobs, social media and our modern sedentary lifestyle.
It can be a challenge to eat all the right foods, drink enough water, find time to pray, study scripture, and exercise “enough”; however, what if you had some easy steps to help get you started to a healthier lifestyle?
In this class we will look at simple practices that you can incorporate into your everyday routines to help you life healthier and honor God in the process. The three main areas we will focus on are stress reducing breathing exercises, natural movement and essential oils of the Bible.
Over the past 6 years I have been using and learning about the incredible benefits of essential oils, and use them in pretty much every area of my life. It’s amazing to think that we have access to the same oils that were given to baby Jesus and used by Moses and Aaron.
Depending on the translation, the word “oil” is specifically mentioned 191 times in the Bible, and there are over 600 references to essential oils and plants. Who knew that “fragrance, odors, aromas, ointments, sweet aromas and perfumes” were all mentioning essential oils! All of these were given to us by God at the time of creation. He wanted us to have them for our spiritual and physical needs. Come learn how you can incorporate them into your life along with other healthy lifestyle tips.
Rachel's class is called "Jesus Wants You to be Healthy" and begins on Wednesday, January 15. The class is from 6:30-7:30pm in GH-3. To register click HERE.
