Special Music on

December 9, 2018 and

December 16, 2018

All of the choirs will sing, bells will ring, and brass will sound forth as Chapel Hill United Methodist Church’s music ministry leads worship in “Carols of Christ’s Coming” Sunday, December 9, at the 8:30 and 11:00am services.

After the lighting of the Advent wreath, the Rejoice Choir will sing “Light of Light” by Nancy Gifford. A piano duet will accompany the choirs, directed by Dr. Randi Von Ellefson, on “Ding! Dong! Merrily on High,” arranged by Howard Helvey. Classical and spiritual styles combine in the anthem “Shepherds, Interrupted” by Larry Shackley. Chapel Bells will swing their mallets on “Fum, Fum, Fum” by Valerie Stephenson. Oklahoma City University’s Blackwelder Brass will accompany the carols and play Christmas music for brass quintet. Brass, bells, choirs and organ will join in Douglas Benton’s arrangement of “Joy to the World.” The service concludes with “Night of Silence” by Daniel Kantor with the singers encircling the congregation.

Spirit Winds, Joyful Ringers and Revelation will continue our Advent/Christmas musical celebration at our services on Sunday, December 16. Spirit Winds will play “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” and “Sing We Now of Christmas.” Joyful Ringers will ring “Ding! Dong! Merrily on High” and “Mary, Did You Know?” Revelation will sing the lively “Celtic Advent Carol” at the 8:30am service.

Everyone is invited to participate in this musical celebration of Christmas. There will be festive food in the Great Hall on both Sundays. Get in the mood for Christmas! Invite your friends and neighbors to come and worship with you.
