To Bolivia To Build
By Steve Turecheck, Chapel Hill UMC
A combined Oklahoma Methodist Conference team, Chapel Hill UMC, Wesley Chapel UMC (Lawton), Centenary UMC (Lawton), and Prague/Arlington UMC have partnered to form a construction mission team traveling to Cobija, Bolivia July 9-21.
Cobija is a tropical city of 56,000 on the border with Brazil, about 600 km north of La Paz. We will help the Amazonia District begin construction on the foundation of a satellite church for Rios de Agua Viva Church, on the outskirts of Cobija. Our labor will positively affect their continued progress to completion.
Our team ranges in age from 13 to 81. With grateful thanks to the CHUMC congregation for supporting Faith Promise, we are overjoyed to have Chapel Hill Boy Scout Troop 168 member Hayden Tribbey join our team on his first international mission. Three other youths from the Lawton area are also participating and we praise God for their parents’ willingness to let them go into the world to help us nurture disciples for Christ.
Please pray for us as we build lasting relationships, a sturdy church building, and our faith in Jesus.
The team members are: Randy Oakes (Team Leader), O.B. Fouquet, Steve Turechek, Paul Middleton, Hayden Tribbey, Israel Swartz, Abby Jones, Makayla Hood, Brenda, Anita and Sue.
