The Life of the Word in Prison

Deuteronomy 29:29 The things that are hidden belong to God; but the things that are revealed belong to us and our children forever, that we may do all the works of the law.

What I get from that verse is we will never know everything that God knows but what He does reveal to us we are to share it, keep it alive and active.

Most of my life was spent in prison. Prison is like most places in life! You can finds love, hate, murder, drugs, and for those who really want to make a life change, you can also meet Christ there. That’s where I re-dedicated my life to Christ.

As a child, I was blessed with a good home and raised in a Christian lifestyle. I took it for granted. At a young age, I started doing dumb things, I let drugs into my life. I let the lure of easy money cloud my mind. I ended up in prison. That saved my life.

In 1997 a group of volunteers came to the prison where I was incarcerated. They came to share God’s Word. I was impacted so much, and my life took on new meaning. Today (with the help of Chapel Hill) I go into prisons 2-3 times a month to share God’s Word. I reach out to men that are lost, like I was.

Is it easy? Sometimes not. But God never said sharing His Word would be easy, yet He asks us to do just that. On an average, we have 28 men in class. We just got done with discipleship #1. God is Good. We all need to get that out there. God is Good.
